Sports Curriculum

At Thorngrove, we believe Games and PE are important for developing mental as well as physical fitness, team spirit and resilience.

Sport is an integral part of the education we offer. Our ‘sports for all’ philosophy ensures that every child enjoys regular exercise and the experience of learning new sports. Our sporting curriculum is designed to foster physical awareness, mental wellbeing, team spirit, an understanding of getting out of life what you put in, as well as learning to lose and win with good grace.  Frequently on the athletics track the loudest cheers are for those who come last or who pick themselves up from a fall and carry on!  From Nursery up, all sports and PE instruction is provided by fully qualified sports teachers.

Thorngrove has an enviable record of sporting achievements at local and regional level, but whether your child is naturally talented or not, they will be taught by sport specialist teachers from an early age and will be included in many house and inter-school matches.  The Sports Department also takes regular tours in the UK and abroad and organises trips to sporting events including Wimbledon, Twickenham and the Ageas Bowl.  For those who wish to explore beyond the traditional sports provision, we also provide opportunities in golf and fishing.
