Thorngrove School was founded in 1988 by Nick and Connie Broughton, the Directors. After several years teaching in London, they decided to move out to the beautiful Hampshire countryside to start their family and set up a school. Due to its success and unique atmosphere the school flourished and grew in size year on year. There are currently 250 pupils at the school.

In the summer of 2009 Nick and Connie stepped back from the day to day running the school and appointed Adam King as Headmaster. In September 2022, Adam was succeeded by Nick Graham, who takes over following five years as Senior Deputy Head in the school.  The Broughtons remain very much part of daily life at Thorngrove.  They are regularly seen walking their dogs (Raffy and Rory) in the grounds and take a real interest in the happiness and well-being of every child.  In addition to this, ten of their grandchildren are at the school.
