Open Days and Taster Days

We open our doors to the general public three times a year. These Open Days give prospective parents a chance to see the school in action and get a snapshot of a ‘day in the life’ at Thorngrove School.

We advertise our Open Days in the Newbury Weekly News as well as on banners and posters nearer the time.  Open Days usually take place in September and May.  If you would like to book a place, please give the school office a call on 01635 253172 or email our Registrar, Beverley O’Brien.

Our next Open Morning will take place on Friday 27th September 9.30am – 11.30am.

Following an Open Day, children are able to spend a day at Thorngrove on a ‘Taster Day’.  These can be arranged at a time to suit the child and the child’s family.  An assessment is also undertaken for children in Year 2 and above and the findings are shared with the child’s parents.  More than often we try to pick a day when a child can take part in a particular subject or activity that they enjoy.  There will also be ample opportunity to have further discussions with the form teacher and Headmaster if needs be.
