The school is located in 25 acres of beautiful, rural countryside. The Tatler Top Prep Schools Guide aptly describes the surroundings as ‘stuff of childhood bliss’. The extensive grounds provide ample space for sports pitches, tennis courts, an all-weather hockey pitch, adventure play areas and woods for exploring in.
An outdoor classroom has recently been built which provides an ideal base for exploring the grounds and woods. The woodland areas are a wonderful resource for bush craft, nature studies and other curriculum areas. The school’s very own Eco-club gives the children various opportunities including horticulture and chicken keeping.
A multi-purpose hall was opened by Robert Hardy in 2007. This provides a wonderful space for music concerts and drama productions as well as indoor PE and games. On either side of the hall are four classrooms and changing facilities. We have a large IT suite and most classrooms have interactive whiteboards. There is a dedicated music room in the Senior Block with several practice rooms. The Science laboratory is fully equipped. The Art room is well resourced and, in addition to our Head of Art, we currently have an ‘Artist in Residence’. Our well-stocked library is located centrally in the main building and we have a full-time librarian. The library also has several networked computers for independent work and research. All classrooms are modern, light and airy and some have direct access to the outside. In 2010 a D&T centre was created in the old nursery and in April 2012 a new Nursery was opened to extend our EYFS provision. In our extensive woods, children enjoy taking part in Forest School lessons and the use of our very own Mongolian Yurt.
