In the Nursery we believe that every child is unique and is constantly learning. We aim to provide the children with new and exciting first-hand experiences.
The relationship between staff and children is excellent. The staff are warm, loving and full of praise. Children feel safe and secure and are given the confidence to become independent and try new things. Numbers are kept small with no more than 14 children per session.
The Nursery is housed in the modern school building with access to 25 acres of beautiful grounds. The setting provides children with a stimulating and colourful environment. The classroom is warm and welcoming with classroom displays and smiley faces. A safe and busy outside area gives the children choice and enables learning for those who love the outdoors. Working closely with reception children encourages high attainment and a smooth transition. The nursery children are involved in all school proceedings; attending a weekly school assembly and joining the lower school for lunch. Beyond our classroom setting the children put on their wellies and explore the streams and woodland.
The children learn through child initiated and teacher led activities embedded within the 7 areas of learning:
- Personal, Social and Emotional Development
- Communication and Language
- Physical Development
- Understanding the World
- Expressive Arts and Design
There are also specialist teachers for French, PE and Music.

Parents comments 2014
“My daughter brings lovely art work, has a go on letter learning and looks so glad to participate in activities that are carefully planned and catered to her needs. I would 110% recommend, it's a lovely small nursery that gives so much attention to each individual child and surrounds them with lots of love and care.”
“The nursery setting at Thorngrove is first class. Staff are friendly, supportive and nurturing. My child is growing and learning after every visit. Cannot recommend highly enough.”
Thorngrove Nursery accepts the Government Grant and is registered for Edenred and Fideliti Childcare Voucher Schemes.
